CARING FOR YOUR BOOTS

Things you should invest in:

• Dry suede brush
• Soft bristled suede cleaning brush
• Microfibre cloth
• Crepe rubber eraser block
• Suede cleaning foam
• Protector spray

I recommend a Jason Markk suede cleaning kit!


To Clean: Always start with dry shoes. Using a specialist suede brush, dry brush the mules to remove any dirt that is sitting on the surface of the suede.

For any stubborn marks, dampen the cleaning brush and shake off the excess water until no drips fall from the brush. Add a few drops of cleaning foam to the brush. Use sparingly to avoid over-wetting the brush. Gently scrub the areas which need a deeper clean. Follow this by rubbing the micro fibre cloth over the area to pick up the lose dirt and absorb the moisture.

It’s really important not to over wet the suede. Suede is a pigment dyed material, which means there is always a risk of colour loss. Using less water when cleaning your shoes will reduce the loss of colour.

Allow the suede to fully dry for the next 24 hours. The suede may feel hard once dry. You can use the dry suede brush and the crepe rubber eraser to bring back the soft texture of the nap.

You can then respray your shoes with the suede protector and take them out into the world!
